Destroying their outposts will weaken their main dark tower and hopefully take some of the pressure off the Mountainhomes.Īpparently the baby that drowned last year in the flooding incident has arisen as a ghost. We can't hope to attack their citadel yet, it has a population of almost 6000, but one of their smaller outposts should be easy pickings, and give our dwarves some fighting experience. Our elites are fully kitted out with metal armour, even if it is only copper due to the available ores, so I have dispatched them to raid one of the outlying goblin settlements. With no goblin attack forthcoming, and news from the humans that the goblin armies have marched on the mountainhomes, I have decided that now is a good time to go on the offensive. While I find the prospect of a troll massacring elven poets hilarious, Ghoog, our legendary clothier is down there, and so I dispatch the military to dispatch the troll, but before they can even get there, the lone human mercenary down in the tavern kills the Troll by whipping its skull in. Unfortunately, the giant influx of monster hunters isn't really as common as it was in previous years and so it is mostly elvish musicians and poets down there. It is mostly valuable since we finally have some blue peahens gain so we can start breeding for more laying peahens, and several donkeys and water buffalo that will provide good meat.Ī troll has attacked the caverns tavern. A few barrels of our famous high quality foods and a couple dozen glass serrated disks are enough to buy out the entire human caravan. I've put the military on high alert in case we get attacked by goblins. Fortunately, our Baron "Drenched In Megalomania" has ended his prohibition on the export of bins so this won't be overly bothersome. After a short meeting with one of our nobles, he departs. I hope to see an elven or human caravan arrive soon. Summer has arrived on the calendar without anything of further note happening. On a related note, I am pleased to announce that as of this date, every dwarf in our fort as well as all of our immigrant humans and elves now have beds and bedrooms of their own. It is my hope that before the year is out, we can have the opening games.Ī few births in the past month feel like a proper celebration of both spring and the adamantine we have uncovered. Construction has finished on our grand arena in every regard save for seating. We've carved out a significant chunk of the adamantine, enough that I feel good about our economic prospects for now, and I've set up some stockpiles and craftsdwarf shops to extract the strands and then smelt them into wafers. I order the beginning of some exploratory shafts and construction made so that we can start to access the adamantine, as at the time of this writing, it isn't actually in reach of our miners, and we'll need to carve out scaffolding to reach a lot of it. There's a great deal of excitement from everyone in the fortress and celebrations break out. A third cavern layer was discovered, this one containing the rarest and most valuable of all metals. We want things to happen organically.Įxploratory digging in search of better metal deposits have delivered far better than we ever could have hoped.
